Senator Specter, Enough is Enough

You had your 15 minutes of fame the day before the Super Bowl. Every television and radio station in the world seemed to be playing over and over (and over) again interviews of you making accusation after accusation against the Patriots for the now infamous "Spygate" affairs, and denouncing NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for destroying tapes and notes. We heard you then call for an all-out, full-scale, super-duper, bigger-than-life investigation into what you made sound were actions that were nothing short of something Whitey Bulger would have committed.

Months later, after the dust has settled, and after the NFL revealed that nothing new was really learned from the interviews with Matt Walsh that it didn't already know and had already addressed through previously-granted fines and penalties, you have risen once again from the ashes and now repeat your call for a full-scale, larger-than-life "independent" investigation. Give it a rest, Senator Specter. There was no conspiracy between the NFL and the Patriots. The Patriots have already paid the record-breaking fines. The Patriots lost the first round draft pick. The Boston Herald has apologized for printing an unfounded article insinuating that Mr. Walsh had a tape of the Rams' pre-Super Bowl walk-through.

(Aside: Don't even get me started with the Herald -- how in the world could the Herald make such a grandnamorous mistake?? I know "grandnamorous" is not a word, but no word in the English language can suffice to describe how big this mistake is in my mind. I hate to admit that that "mistake" has actually given me some Specter-like suspicions of my own -- I mean, rather than being a mistake, is it possible that the Herald really printed a story it knew was not completely researched (or just outright unfounded), knowing that, given the timing and the certain uprising that would follow, it would really make a name for itself?? Say it ain't so.... But, I digress.)

Senator Specter, you may never know everything you ever wanted to know about the Patriots. The Eagles couldn't figure them out, either. Your beloved team lost to the Patriots in the Super Bowl. Sorry. We know it hurts; Pats fans hurt this year, too. (I guess the Giants must have done something "illegal" to win that one, too, huh?) However, what's different between us and you, is that we just move on. Your turn. Time to focus on gas prices and world peace.
